Operating through five subsidiaries - Tower Insurance Company of New York (operating as Tower Select Insurance Company in California), Tower National Insurance Company, Preserver Insurance Company, Mountain Valley Indemnity Company and North East Insurance Company - Tower Group Companies (Tower) is a leading insurance and risk-related services company based in New York City. Tower provides property and casualty insurance to underserved markets and has different market facilities tailored to meet the needs of our producers in order to attract different segments of the market, from preferred to non-standard including excess and surplus lines.
Our commercial products include property, inland marine, general liability, workers compensation, commercial auto, and commercial umbrella. Industries targeted by Tower include mercantile and service, restaurant and food industries, wholesale and distribution, construction, automotive, and commercial and habitational real estate. Our personal lines products include homeowners, dwelling fire, three-and four-family dwelling policies and personal umbrella. Products vary by company and state.
Tower Insurance Company of New York
Tower Insurance Company of New York (TICNY) was founded in 1990 by Michael H. Lee. Today, a leading provider of property and casualty insurance for businesses and individuals, TICNY writes in New York State, including the five boroughs of New York City, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Florida and Texas. TICNY operates as Tower Select Insurance Company in California. TICNY is licensed in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and is eligible to write surplus lines in 2 states, and future territorial expansion plans include supporting a national wholesale and retail platform. Tower Insurance Company of New York has earned an A- IX (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best.
Tower National Insurance Company
Tower Group purchased North American Lumber Insurance Company in 2005 and renamed it Tower National Insurance Company (TNIC). TNIC provides property and casualty insurance in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, with plans for further territorial expansion. TNIC is licensed in 33 states plus the District of Columbia. Tower National Insurance Company has earned an A- IX (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best.
Preserver Group Companies
Tower Group acquired the Preserver Group in April 2007. The Preserver Group companies include Preserver Insurance Company, Mountain Valley Indemnity Company and North East Insurance Company. The Preserver Group agency plant in New Jersey, New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Pennsylvania; and experienced and professional employees complement Tower Group’s expansion plans into the Northeast.
