Responsibilities
About the Engineering & Architecture Summer Internship Program:

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey offers a 10- to 12-week paid internship that provides graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments related to the student's major.

As an intern with the Port Authority, you will be challenged by hands-on projects that will develop skills such as how to write effectively and how to work as part of a team. During your summer experience, you will be provided with orientation and training to support your success.

Additionally, interns with the Port Authority receive an hourly compensation that is based on their field of study and level of education. Interns with outstanding performance have moved into full-time positions within the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey upon graduation.

The Port Authority operates a broad range of trade and transportation infrastructure in the New York/New Jersey region. The diversity of our businesses creates opportunities for students to gain exposure to the work of a first class, public agency.

Engineering & Architecture Internships generally seek students studying the following disciplines:
Architecture
Civil
Construction Management
Electrical/Electronics
Environmental
Geotechnical
Materials Management
Mechanical
Structural
Traffic

Interns will assist experienced engineers with the planning, design, construction management and supervision, materials testing and inspections, and information technology management for projects at various Port Authority facilities. Assignments are project driven and task oriented; your work will directly contribute to the Engineering Department's commitment to excellence in engineering and architecture quality by delivering timely, cost-effective services.
Qualifications
The Port Authority seeks interns who are talented and driven, and who have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region. We welcome current graduate and undergraduate students to apply from a variety of majors such as: Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Materials Management. Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research, and applicable technical skills.
