Reviews, analyzes and ensures the quality of data loaded into database systems. Provides production job support from a quality perspective. Must be able to understand business rules, work with varying data formats and develop metrics and audit procedures to monitor data quality. Understand, query and manipulate varying data and file formats. Identify, compare and resolve data quality problems. Evaluate business impact of specific data quality issues. Measure and audit large volumes of varying data for quality issues. Work with multiple groups, including overseas groups, to resolve issues.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
*Utilize tools to analyze, query and manipulate data according to defined business rules and procedures. *Research data issues, analyze files and existing processes or programs, test data using database applications *Follow defined audit procedures, and produce required metrics according to defined procedures. *Correct data quality errors, either with system tools or working with programmers. *May update/maintain database with reviewed and corrected data. *Review data and record layouts prior to submitting to programmers and do final check when data is loaded. May approve release of data into production. *Prepare reports and track trends. *Interpret, evaluate and resolve or escalate phone/e-mail inquiries pertaining to user requests. *Provide training to other data quality representatives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education
*High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
Experience
*Five to eight years of directly related experience
Knowledge/Skills
*Knowledge of required tools to query and manipulate data in varying file formats *Knowledge of file layouts, data formats, and file analysis data *Knowledge of all types of data formats and file structures *Ability to follow and develop data quality standards, metrics and audit procedures *Knowledge of databases, formation and manipulation *Knowledge of programming *Conveys complex technical issues/problems to programmers in a clear/concise manner; must be familiar with basic data/programming terminology to communicate as much of problem and solution as possible *Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications *Experience in SQL, ETL tools, and/or data manipulation software is a plus
