The Founders Affiliate of the American Heart Association is recruiting to fill an outside sales/fundraising position as a Director Youth Market in our Poughkeepsie, NY office. Under the direction of the Vice President, the Director is responsible for implementing the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart events in the Poughkeepsie Market. The Director will act as the American Heart Association liaison with schools in the territory and is responsible for achieving income and recruitment goals through the management of existing customers, and prospecting for and cultivating of new accounts.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Drive revenue growth by working with school coordinators to achieve income goals and by retaining current schools and recruiting new schools in the territory.
  2. Actively work with school coordinators to help ensure the success of events through quality goal setting and leveraging known success drivers.
  3. Establish mutually satisfying relationships and vision with schools/coordinators to develop and deepen their involvement with and support of the American Heart Association.
  4. Maintain an updated Account Management data base (Siebel).
  5. Set goals for registered schools in Siebel, and maintain projections throughout year.
  6. Follow appropriate and timely cultivation plan for all schools.
  7. Participate in trainings (sessions and/or teleconferences) and monthly Youth Market meetings.
  8. Act as AHA information liaison to schools or community groups in territory.
  9. Assist with any public relations efforts for events.
  10. Attend school assemblies as requested.
  11. Build strong, positive relationships with school personnel in territory; work towards opening up locked out territories.
  12. Recruit and support schools for Wear Red Day
  13. Assist with any Affiliate-wide trainings.
  14. Integrate with other AHA departments.
  15. Participate in Youth Market related programs, workshops and conferences.

  4. Applied knowledge and intermediate skills in windows applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  5. Ability to travel within territory 80% of the time and outside the territory 20% of the time for monthly Regional or Affiliate wide meetings and/or training
  6. Ability to speak publicly
  7. Knowledge of school systems a plus
  8. Must have the ability to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation
  9. Ability and willingness to travel as position demands.
  10. Ability to work outside standard hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Required Experience

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.

Experience:

Must have at least 3 years of experience in outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position's educational requirement.
