We are seeking an ambitious Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations who will build and sustain beneficial relationships with funding organizations, working as a member of our fast-moving, entrepreneurial Development team to support leadership in education reform.

Strategy

• Develop a strong understanding of the mission and priorities of Success Academy Charter Schools and apply that knowledge to develop effective strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding funding organizations.
• Research and identify new funding streams while maintaining, extending and renewing existing grant contracts.
• Oversee and improve all policies and standards for all external/internal communications, written proposal process, and funder relationship cycle.
• Work with Success Academy team members across the organization to develop projects to bring to funders.

Relationship Management

• Serve as the main contact for primary funding relationships for Success Academies.
• Cultivate relationships with important stakeholders, foundation officers, and other prospects to visit Success Academy Charter Schools.
• Engage program officers at funding organizations in order to solicit invitations to submit proposals.
• Liaise and leverage board members, senior staff and colleagues to learn about projects to be funded and identify potential contacts ideal for networking targeted funders.

Operations

• Oversee all aspects of foundation and government fundraising for general operating support, specified programmatic needs, expansion and budget development.
• Collaborate with our external affairs, legal, operations, and other departments within our central office to ensure compliance and appropriate stewardship.
• Work with Board Relations and Development team, and other Success Academy team members in the research and design of projects to bring to foundations.

Our ideal Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will have leadership experience within a sophisticated fundraising operation, preferably within an education-related enterprise or innovative mission-based environment. A broad background in development is desirable, with 5-7 years of increasing responsibility.

• S/he will have a demonstrated track record of effective solicitation, including a proven record of accomplishment in corporate, foundation and government relations.
• S/he will have particular strength in the area of developing a strategic and comprehensive fundraising plan and executing against the plan.
• Additional knowledge/experience working directly with organizational leaders and a high profile Board of Directors is essential.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have an ambitious and entrepreneurial orientation, with a history of either creating from scratch and/or professionalizing a development function within a fast-paced, high growth non-profit environment highly preferred.
