Job Description: JOB SUMMARY: The Editorial Assistant will provide support to the editorial and data teams in our product group. Candidate will report into publishing team and be tasked with a variety of jobs from writing, editing, data entry, phone and project management. The Company has long been a leader in helping college and graduate school-bound students achieve their education and career goals through its test preparation services, tutoring and admissions resources, online courses, and more than 150 print and digital books published by Random House, Inc. The Princeton Review delivers its programs via a network of more than 5,000 teachers and tutors in the U.S.A., Canada, and international franchises. The Company also partners with schools and guidance counselors worldwide to provide students with college readiness, test preparation and career planning services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Take minutes during weekly Status conference call and monthly Ad call; assist Editors in updating production and advertising schedules2. E-book proofinga. Review 1st e-book pass when alerted by Random House (RH)b. Create list of any errors/issuesc. Review 2nd pass to ensure listed errors/issues were addressed3. Reprintsa. Maintain errata sheet (see next bullet)b. Review RH reprint report and send errata sheet to production artist (designated by Director of Production) for fixesc. Send corrected pages to RHd. When physical copy arrives, check that error was corrected and gray out point on errata sheete. Periodically work with IT to update errata on intranet for field use4. Customer servicea. Respond to customer emails to (NB: guidebooks-related emails can go to guidebooks Editor for response)b. Errors in books: investigate error (using content experts when necessary), add to errata, respond to customerc. Refunds: respond to email, complete refund request form and pass to Cheryl5. Sales figures: update spreadsheet with numbers from RH monthly6. Cover routinga. Remind editors when cover copy is due to RHb. Act as point of contact for RH when cover passes arrive; compile editor comments and return to RH7. Online Companion Tools (OCTs)a. Register advance copy of any book with OCTsb. Confirm OCTs are functioning correctly in advance of pub date8. Create/maintain library of style documentsa. Acquire/scan samples of each test type from test administering body, tutors, etc.b. Maintain Master Style Guide and keep updated style sheets for each titlec. With Editors and Director of Production, develop a copy editing/proofreading test for freelancers9. College Liaison
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's Degree required
  2. Minimum of 2 years editorial experience preferred.
  3. Ability to work in multiple computer databases and possess proficient skills in MS Office
  4. Strong written and oral communications skills
  5. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  6. Strong ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines and prioritize appropriately
