The Editorial Intern will assist with the day-to-day operations of the department. The Intern's responsibilities will include standard administrative work such as mailings, filing, and processing invoices. In addition, the Intern will learn about the book production process and provide assistance as needed (e.g, reading and formatting draft manuscripts, organizing photo insert materials, securing permissions). Other responsibilities will include reading submissions and drafting manuscript reports and letters in response to submissions; compiling publication history on house authors; and researching prospective authors and book topics.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have: a strong desire to learn about publishing, basic computer skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work well individually and as a member of a group, an eye for detail, good judgment, a positive attitude, a willingness to take initiative, and the time to work between 20 and 40 hours a week in HMH's Park Avenue office.
