We are building a tablet-based platform to facilitate personalized instruction and enable anywhere, anytime learning.

Amplify is looking for a talented and motivated Junior Systems Engineer to join our growing technology team. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment. You'll be responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and maintaining web and mobile platforms.

Responsibilities for Junior Systems Engineer:

• As part of a cross-functional team, you'll ensure the availability and continuity of services, from development to production.
• Help troubleshoot issues at any level of architecture - kernel, network, applications and services.
• Participate in design review of applications and services.
• Identify opportunities for infrastructure automation and develop the solutions.
• Identify the need for tools that help in maintaining, developing, and improving services and implement those tools.
• Jointly create, with development, performance benchmark tests for applications and services.
• Recommend best practices related to applications and service creation in terms of supportability and performance.

Requirements for Junior Systems Engineer:

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred, followed by 3 or more years of professional software systems engineering or administration experience.
• Strong communication skills, for example the ability to describe technical concepts in simple, clear, terms.
• Ability to manage multiple work-streams and prioritize work
• Strong experience in developing distributed, networked, application that make use of protocols such as TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
• Extensive knowledge of Linux.
• Strong skills in one or more of the following: Bash, Python, Ruby.
• Experience with running systems that require 99.9%+ uptime in Amazon's EC2.
• Experience in utilizing configuration management tools like Chef or Puppet.
• Experience in using software design patterns, data structure, and algorithms.
• Experience automating tests and tasks.

Preferred Skills for Junior Systems Engineer:

• Experience in mobile development
• In depth familiarity with WiFi and 3/4G technologies
• Experience in K-12 Education
• A certification in the IT Infrastructure Library
