Candidates must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language. Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and days off. Must be able to report to work on a regular and timely basis.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: Thirty-six (36) months in one or more of the maintenance trades or the equivalent.
License: Valid driver's license
Citizenship: Must possess the legal right to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform all job functions in variable weather conditions as well as in environmental conditions such as jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions and dust. GSE Mechanics must be able to work with hazardous chemicals such as cleaning solvents, paints, thinners, and fumes. Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers to name a few. In order to transport company vehicles, operate control room consoles and inspect electrical circuits, GSE Mechanics must have the ability to distinguish colors red, green, yellow, white and blue. Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs as well as bend, twist, pull, push and lift items weighing approximately 100 lbs.
Training: Two (2) weeks
Uniforms: The Company will pay 50% for the employee's first uniform set and the employee shall pay 50%. The employee's portion will be payroll deducted.
Salary: All GSE Mechanic wages are governed by the contract agreed upon between American Eagle and the Transport Workers Union (TWU). Annual increases are based on Company anniversary dates as specified in the contract.
Employment Requirements: Federal law requires American Eagle to determine an applicant's history of Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and/or alcohol violation(s) or refusal(s) to test before hiring him/her into a safety-sensitive position. This position may be subject to DOT testing. If applicable to the position, a candidate must fulfill a fingerprint-based criminal background check to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA). Candidates must also be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US customs security badges, if applicable.
