Position Description

Production Supervisor   HP Hood's – LaFargeville Division JOB DESCRIPTION                                                 Job Code   Overview… Coordinate daily production activities so as to meet business objectives. General expectation include… Stay focused on identified goals and drive results. Set clear expectations for your team. Coach, Develop, and Motivate your team. Hold your employees accountable. Keep your team informed. Ensure effective inter and intra department communication. Essential Functions… Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching, corrective action and development. Makes employment decisions. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution in a positive manner or through a development process. Must exhibit working knowledge of all in-plant operations and processes Must exhibit working knowledge of external regulatory audits, inspections, as well as internal and external customer demands. Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas. Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager. Must exercise continuous leadership to focus plant efforts on shifting priorities. Focus needs to include short term and long term goals and objectives. Must not only have troubleshooting skills, but also be able to lead in full investigations, root cause analysis, and problem resolution in order to ensure that all products and processes are continuously improving from a quality, production and safety standpoint. Must ensure and maintain line efficiencies to their maximum capabilities. Strict adherence to Corporate and/or Plant Policies, rules, and regulations. Must lead by example and have zero tolerance to non-compliance. Responsible for assisting in the training and development of production employees and ensuring that they comply with all SOP's. Inclusive of long term employees and ensuring new hires are set for success. Assist Quality and Plant Management in ensuring compliance to GMP's, housekeeping, sanitation standards and product handling. Will assist in ensuring all shifts are covered due to vacation or unannounced absenteeism. Ensure Safety Compliance and Accident Investigations are conducted thoroughly and timely. Must effectively work in a team based atmosphere at all levels and communicate at a high level of professionalism. Complete assigned tasks given by management, and other functional departments in a complete and timely manner. (ex: 5 minute meetings, written assignments, continuous improvement procedures.)                     Education and Experience…   Physical Requirements… Degree in Related Sciences preferred 3+ years of supervisory experience. Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc) Computer knowledge is essential. Team oriented individual. Ability to work well with people. Communication skills are a must. Multi-tasked Individual Standing: Long periods (a minimum of 6 hours) Sitting: Occasionally for short periods Walking: Occasionally for short periods Bending: Occasionally Twisting of Spine: Occasionally Lifting: Occasionally (50+ lbs) frequently Carrying: Occasionally (40-60 lbs) short distances   Special Requirements… 45+ Hour Work Week Able to motivate others.
