Position Description

Engility is looking for a Programmer/Analyst supporting the Software Engineering Center Systems Integration Laboratory in Syracuse, NY! Come join our exciting and rapidly growing Engility Command and Control Systems and Software family. Engility is a leading provider of C4ISR enterprise architectures and software, applications and portal development. We have recently won a number of new and long-term contracts making long-term growth opportunities at Engility plentiful. Over the past year, we have more than doubled our technical staff and we are still growing!

Builds and codes applications and/or modules using languages such as C , visual basic, ABAP, JAVA, XTML, etc. Provides patches and upgrades to existing systems. May design graphical user interface (GUI) to meet the specific needs of users. Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. May build add-on modules using application program language.

Interacts daily with Corporate Collateral Facility customers providing timely assistance in the area of Unix based workstation administration and with software development on both Unix based systems and Windows based systems. Assists the Facility Manager and CCF STAFF with sensor and data fusion related project requirements including: development, administration, training and scheduling support (for facility usage).

  • Install OSes and apply relevant patches for security purposes
  • Research/Evaluate/Install software
  • User administration
  • Set up user accounts
  • Set up user environments
  • Ensure that users have appropriate applications installed for the project. These include applications like program compilers, editors, integrated development environments, etc.
  • Maintain backup system(s).
  • Create documentation on procedures for maintaining the systems. Update as procedures are refined or changed based on customers needs or AFRL regulations.
  • Create/maintain cron jobs, automated scripts.
  • Set up/maintain Bug tracking software.
  • Configuration Management, CVS administration for development teams in the CCF.
  • Put software distributions together with the original author for delivery to customers and other facility users.
Education Requirements:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Programming:
Candidates should be knowledgeable in object oriented programming and have a working knowledge of two or more of the following development/data languages. Knowledge of more than two is beneficial to the efforts in the CCF.
C/C ,
perl, bash/c-shell scripting,
PHP, HTML, KML, XML
Java, JSP
Matlab
ASP
Candidates should also be able to identify new approaches to exisiting facility software applications and then in collaboration with the Program Manager and other personnel design and implement the new application or rework existing applications.
The successful candidate should have a strong troubleshooting background to be able to identify errors having to do with: coding, test tools, network, environment, and hardware.
Other:
Follow the AFRL guidelines on security and best practices.
Keep detailed notes on tasks.
Writing documentation.
Ability to put together presentations for customers.
Complete all requirements for facility and IT access
