About The Port Authority
The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is a bi-state public agency responsible for promoting transportation and commerce, operating some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the region including bridges, tunnels, bus terminals, airports, PATH, AirTrain systems, and the NY/NJ seaport.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is seeking Second Cook to join our team.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Cook or a Facility Cafeteria Supervisor, the Second Cook assists in the preparation and cooking of all foods such as meats, vegetables, soups, puddings, fruits, etc. for use in facility cafeterias and for special occasions. The Second Cook is responsible for cashiering, and for the proper storage of all foods in the walk-in refrigerator and freezer; maintains standards of neatness and cleanliness at the Cooks station, steam table, and cooking equipment.
Qualifications
Candidates must be present the following qualifications in order to be considered:
* High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required
* Two years full-time work experience in the preparation and commercial food service industries.

The ideal candidate will present the following qualification profile:
* Work experience in the preparation of variety of cooking in a commercial cafeteria type operation.

Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a hands-on exam that will assess candidates' knowledge in areas such as: following detailed recipes in preparing high quality menu, demonstrate a working knowledge of maintaining a sanitary commercial kitchen throughout food preparation, safety practices, and using of various kitchen equipment and tools.

Selected candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background check.
Compensation & Benefits
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package (subject to collective bargaining agreement) and a professional environment that supports development and recognizes achievement. Salary: $11.16 hourly (Subjective to collective bargaining agreement)
