Objective: Lead / sponsor the preparation of thorough, accurate and timely estimates for public sector projects (Roads, Highways and bridges [steel and concrete structures]) in the $30MM to $500MM range, including the preparation of bid documents and the development of clear written proposals and correspondence

Essential Functions:
  • Assign and monitor the activities of other estimators when necessary.
  • Review plans and specifications.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate take-off.
  • Contact subcontractors, suppliers, specialty services and truckers for quotes.
  • Develop thorough, timely and accurate estimates, proposals and bid documents.
  • Process contracts, bonds and insurance certificates.
  • Perform additional assignments as needed.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.

Required Experience: Minimum 10 years' heavy civil construction experience.

Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction in New York City/New England area including concrete, excavation, paving, foundations and structural steel.
  • Knowledge and understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues.
  • Demonstrated decision making skills.
  • Ability to work in high production environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy at all times.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
