| The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bi-state public agency operating some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the New York / New Jersey region including The Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation (PATH), the primary transit link between Manhattan and New Jersey communities and suburban commuter railroads. |

| Under the direct supervision of a Tolls Supervisor, the Toll Collector performs routine duties in the collection of tolls from customers operating vehicles at Port Authority tunnels and bridges. The Toll Collector is responsible for performing their duties in a manner that creates a favorable impression through exceptional customer service and professionalism.
Part-time Toll Collectors work between 16 and 28 hours per week. The following are the schedule requirements for this position; please note that these requirements are not flexible:
Selected candidates will work a different schedule each week and must be available to work a full, 8-hour tour on each shift assigned. Part-Time Toll Collectors typically work 2-3 days per week, 8 hours each day.
Selected candidates must be able to work morning and afternoon shifts as well as weekends and holidays.
Selected candidates will not be able to state a schedule preference.
Selected candidates may be assigned to any Port Authority tunnels and bridges which include the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel or Lincoln Tunnel and Staten Island Crossings (Goethals Bridge, Bayonne Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing).
Part-time Toll Collectors may have the opportunity to convert to Full-Time Collectors, as positions become available. |

| ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must possess the following qualifications in order to be considered:
* High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution * A minimum of one (1) year experience in a position where money handling was a primary job function, such as a cashier or bank teller
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will present the following qualification profile:
* Demonstrated ability to process money-handling transactions rapidly and accurately * Possession of a valid driver's license is desirable * Demonstrated customer service skills * Ability to clearly communicate with the general public with courtesy and professionalism.
Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam to assess your abilities in areas such as:
* Applying Information/Deductive Reasoning * Numeric Facility * Mathematical Reasoning * Reading Comprehension
Candidates who qualify on the written exam may be invited to participate in an oral exam designed to measure candidates skills/abilities such as:
* Situational Judgment * Customer Service * Understanding and following instructions * Ability to accurately and expeditiously determine toll rates and provide correct change
Selected candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background check including a consumer credit check. |
