Job Description
The Director of Business Development function requires a highly motivated results-oriented individual with effective communication skills who will be responsible for the identification, pursuit and closing of new and strategic Opportunities. The individual will have responsibility for the new product definition, new product planning, forecasting, and developing strategies to obtain new opportunities, for existing and new Space, Aerospace, Medical and Military customers. Skill set must include strong “hunter” capability to operate independently and achieve objectives. 

The Director of Business Development is expected to: 

•    Identify, qualify, and close new opportunities with an emphasis on large and/or strategic opportunities. Develop and maintain customer business relationships at mid-tier and top-level management.
•    Aggressively pursue new, large and/or strategic opportunities to ensure funnel health. Ensure continuous contact and flow of information with key customers to maximize development success rate.

•    Establish new accounts and contacts with leading High Reliability OEM’s and create opportunities to interface at a very Senior Management level.
•    Define the new product strategy, positioning and roadmap including partnership developments.
•    Define the prioritization and development of new products with justified business cases. 
•    Create business proposals based on customer requirements, product capability, competitive knowledge, and market environment to create value propositions and differentiation of offering. 
•    Work closely with engineering to develop product functionality.
•    Brief and train the sales force during Sales Conferences and other sales meetings; includes training of Regional Business Managers, Authorized Sales Representatives and Franchised Distributors. 
•    Work with the MARCOM Manager to develop product marketing plans for new products and implement product specific marketing collateral; i.e., datasheets, white papers, brochures, advertisements, etc. 
•    Develop plan to meet annual revenue goals supported with quarterly revenue forecast details.
•    Supervise the Applications Engineer and Business Development Manager (currently one individual, remote employee) 

Required Experience 

•    Minimum of 10 years business development experience in the High reliability OEM component field with strong technical sales, application engineering and marketing knowledge in the Aerospace, Space, Medical and Military high reliability markets. 
•    Requires an in-depth understanding of component technologies with detailed design and application experience.
•    Electrical engineering degree required, and MBA preferred. Must be both technical and business savvy with a proven track record.   
•    Must be available to travel up to 50% of the time.
•    Demonstrable skills using product management tools: Market and product plans, timelines, market research, and product validity.
•    Ability to establish priorities and maintain multiple priorities and tasks at one time.
•    Well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills. A self-starting and self-motivating individual with a cheerful outlook and influence on the organization, who can work well in a small company atmosphere.
•    Strong computer skills. Focus on Office, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and Salesforce.com.
•    Must be a U.S. citizen.
