Marcum LLP is seeking a Tax & Business Services Senior Manager for our growing and well-established firm in our New York City office. This position requires a high energy, experienced professional with strong interpersonal and managerial skills.

The ideal candidate to join our Real Estate Family group will have 7-10 years of experience in both individual and partnership taxation. They will be responsible for overseeing, planning and reviewing engagements throughout across various industries, with a focus in private client services and real estate. The candidate will be expected to supervise staff, interact with clients, review tax returns, and ensure the completion of their engagements. We will expect the candidate to stay up to date on relevant tax laws and regulations and consistently apply the relevant laws to their engagements.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates thorough technical knowledge of tax law and regulations through researching, and reviewing technical concepts relating to relevant engagements.
  • Identifies tax risk management issues and proposes potential solutions through research and collaboration with Engagement Partner and other engagement team members
  • Completes thorough review of tax workpapers on a timely basis
  • Advanced 1040 and 1065 tax review skills
  • Addresses questions on advanced technical tax and accounting matters from team members and upper level client management
  • Manages multiple assignments simultaneously across multiple engagements
  • Communicate with Director and/or Partner on work status and client issues that arise
  • Conducts research, consults with team members, draws conclusions and prepares memos based on target issues
  • Perform a detailed review of team's workflow and monitor that tasks are assigned and completed on a timely basis
  • Communicate effectively with clients and develop positive relationships with client personnel
  • Supervise, train and mentor tax staff
  • Keep up to date on industry laws and regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • CPA required
  • Bachelors of Accounting required
  • 7+ years' experience in a similar role
  • 3+ years' supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge in individual and partnership taxation
  • Prior experience managing engagements and clients
  • Formal mentoring relationships with all levels of staff
  • Ability to work independently, but also work well with others
  • Active participation in the firm's marketing and recruitment efforts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Taxation preferred
  • Experience with ProSystem Tax and ProSystem Engagement a plus

Compensation Range

Salary: $160,000.00 - $200,000.00
