What is the opportunity?

An experienced Analyst / Associate in the U.S. Real Estate Corporate Banking Group will be responsible for supporting the team in all aspects of the business, including: origination, structuring, and execution of new real estate loans and asset management of the existing loan portfolio, with the goal of optimizing RBC's balance sheet in connection with Capital Markets / Investment Banking / Sales & Trading relationship goals.

What will you do?

  • Assist in all aspects of transaction approval and execution processes for new loans and amendments of existing loans, for corporate revolvers and term loans, single asset mortgage loans, bridge loans, acquisition facilities, NAV facilities, etc., across all property types
  • Preparation of credit submissions and documentation related to the transaction approval process
  • Actively manage multiple pipeline reports that require periodic updates
  • Prepare detailed analyses comparing loan terms across multiple transactions and assist with structuring and syndicating loan transactions
  • Provide assistance in Corporate Banking coverage for identified clients, including identification of cross sell opportunities in all RBC Capital Markets active products and markets
  • Work in a team environment with Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, RSG, etc.
  • Ensure timely updates on client, industry and market performance, particularly in connection with any signs of potential deterioration or developments requiring amendments/waivers to existing loan documentation
  • Assistance with internal credit administration, including monitoring of the team's loan portfolio performance and market/industry conditions as they affect this performance
  • Liaise and be primary contact with back and middle office functions connected to our internal loan portfolio management system, transaction closings, loan funding, receipt of wires etc.
  • Engage peers in Risk Management and Credit Portfolio Management in the application for credit and in subsequent administration and monitoring
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in Corporate Lending / Corporate Finance
  • Strong financial modeling abilities, as well as superior writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels within and outside of the organization
  • Ability to take initiative and function independently balanced with strong team skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and simultaneous workflows while meeting tight and often competing deadlines
  • Suggested qualifications:Formal Credit training; Master's Degree; CFA or other relevant professional designation

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $95,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
