The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Columbia Center for Human Development is seeking a highly motivated Technician B to contribute to a project centered on the lung stem cell compartment, investigating its behavior in both disease and regeneration-repair processes. Collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and fellow lab members, the research staff will delve into ongoing projects aimed at identifying transitional states in developing and injured lung cells.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in the analysis of data generated from mouse models, organoids, and epidemiological databases.
  • Perform routine DNA/RNA procedures and basic laboratory techniques.
  • Conduct immunofluorescence staining of cells and lung tissue sections, as well as imaging of biological samples.
  • Work with the laboratory team to ensure all laboratory protocols are followed to support a safe working environment.
  • Assist in generating sequencing libraries.
  • Maintain lab organization, record-keeping, and perform other assigned duties.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques
  • Excellent communication skills are imperative
  • Ability to work independently and accurately

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with computational biology

Other Requirements

  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
