Job Description

Position Summary

The Employee Engagement Specialist participates in designing a variety of reward and recognition programs and other initiatives all aimed at fostering employee engagement and creating a positive work experience and environment. This position reports to the Director of Employee Engagement and collaborates with the Patient Experience Team, Marketing and Communications Team, and staff across Stony Brook Medicine.

Duties of the Employee Engagement Specialist may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Collaborates with the Director of Employee Engagement and others as appropriate to design, implement, and support a comprehensive suite of reward, recognition, resilience, and other programs that foster employee engagement and enhance employee satisfaction, motivation, and retention.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive project plans, ensuring the timely and successful implementation of initiatives and programs.
  • Implements employee feedback mechanisms, including surveys, rounding, and "employee listening channels" ensuring that communication moves in multiple directions and that all employees have accessible and convenient forums for sharing feedback.
  • Analyzes feedback data and develops clear, well-organized, and meaningful reports and presentations that identify trends and areas for improvement in employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develops communication materials to promote employee engagement programs and initiatives.
  • Designs and conducts training sessions and workshops to educate employees and managers on the importance of employee engagement and recognition.
  • Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of employee engagement programs. Tracks and analyzes relevant metrics to assess program impact and makes data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinates ongoing reward and recognition programs including the Employee of the Month program, the Stony Brook Star program, Employee Appreciation Day, Hospital Week, the 90 Day Hooray, etc. Ensures that events are timely and successful.
  • Coordinates the electronic exit survey process. Analyzes data and makes appropriate data driven recommendations based on feedback. Presents data findings and recommendations in a clear, well organized and professional manner.
  • Assists with a variety of other related projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business, or any other related field. At least 3 years of experience in HR or a related field that must include developing and implementing complex, multi-faceted project plans. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. A track record of exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders. Must be highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the Press Ganey Employee Engagement Survey software or other related survey software programs. Experience with Human Resource Information Systems. Experience working in Employee Engagement or Human Resources.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $80,000 - $100,000 / year.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
