Job Description

Primary Duties

The Legal Operations Paralegal is responsible for assisting with the operational, technology, and financial functions of the Legal Department and corporate governance, licensing, and permitting matters. She/he/they will provide high quality, proactive support to sustain and improve the Legal Department's operational effectiveness to help the department work more efficiently and deliver quality legal services across the company. The Legal Operations Paralegal will also support company attorneys on work related to corporate governance and licensing and permits to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The Legal Operations Paralegal will:

  • Serve as the system administrator for the Legal Department e-billing system and actively support, monitor, and manage legal invoicing in accordance with policies.

  • Assist with department budget preparation and management.

  • Develop and maintain forms, trainings, FAQs, SOPs, guidance documents, and other self-service tools for the Legal Department and internal stakeholders, including company intranet and Legal Department Teams site.

  • Support the selection, execution, management, and optimization of legal technologies.

  • Network and collaborate with colleagues from other Roche entities to align on best practices, joint projects, and other company-wide initiatives.

  • Draft and maintain corporate governance documents, and assist with powers of attorney, delegations of signatory authority, and legalizations/authentications (e.g., apostilles).

  • Provide support on the management of corporate subsidiaries and state licenses and permits, and maintenance of associated records.
  • Assist with the preparation, distribution, and maintenance of board materials as needed.

  • Manage Legal Department files and secondary resources and subscriptions.

  • Support onboarding and offboarding of Legal Department team members.
  • Support additional Legal Department and cross-functional projects as the need arises.

Responsibilities

Execute department operational, technology, and financial tasks and projects and corporate governance, licensing, and permit matters.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

This is a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days in office.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, dynamic law firm or in-house legal department required.
  • Experience as a paralegal required.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry is preferred.

Spark takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary for potential new employees. The base salary range for this position is currently from $83,900 to $125,900.
