Operations AnalystJob Description: The primary responsibility of an Operations Analyst at Wireless Generation is to improve the visibility of technical operations across the company. This position requires a strong desire to implement automation, instrumentation and to be innovative in communicating technical details. Proven leadership with excellent coding, analytical and systems administration skills are typical traits of people in this position. Responsibilities of Operations Analyst: - Work with IT Operations teams and Development teams to build tools for tracking of system and application metrics
- Analyze data to find ways of improving communication of key points to both Engineering teams and Business teams
- Assist in gathering data for root cause analysis of incidents
- Participate in the design, deployment and ongoing management of the configuration management, monitoring and metrics infrastructure
- Align engineering development requirements with the capabilities of the available infrastructure
Requirements of Operations Analyst: - BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related Technical disciplines
- At least 3 years of professional experience in systems administration with a preference towards Linux administration
- At least 2 years of experience in configuring Nagios and writing NRPE checks
- Working knowledge of at least one of the following metrics tools: Ganglia, Munin, Cacti
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Bcfg2, Puppet, CFEngine, Chef
- Comfortable coding and debugging in at least two of the following languages: Shell, Python, Ruby, Java, Perl or PHP
- Experience with Splunk, R, logstash, gnuplot, graphite OPENTSDB or other data analysis/graphing tools
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
