    Overview

    Responsible for updating, configuring and maintaining the Baylor voice infrastructure, ensuring its optimal performance, while integrating robust and non-intrusive security, and providing ongoing support for all communications systems (data, telephony, mobility, and multimedia back-end systems).

    Responsibilities
    • Perform configuration as required, or assist Senior Team on projects
    • Works in a project matrix environment on ad-hoc project teams under the direction of the PMO project manager
    • Knowledge of other PBX (Avaya, Nortel) and performed migration from other PBX to Cisco VoIP solutions
    • Performs installation, repair, ongoing maintenance, upgrades (software/firmware) and troubleshooting of Baylor's voice converged IP network. (Call Managers 11.x or newer, Avaya PBX, Voice Gateways, CUBE (on different Hardware), Unity, Presence (jabber), Contact Center (UCCX), TelePresence, SecureLogix, Zoom Meetings and including future Cloud based initiatives.
    • Troubleshoot complex IPT related issues to resolution.
    • Knowledge of scripting and troubleshooting for UCCX environment
    • Document and diagrams: Provides supporting information for, and occasionally writes and updates departmental documentation, including processes and procedures and topology drawings/maps
    • Be able to monitor daily Backups and performance of the VoIP environment and use RTMT or other monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
    • Support for data network infrastructure, including LAN, WLAN, MAN, and WAN, located at the main campus, as well as throughout the Texas Medical Center and remote locations in the Houston metropolitan area.
    • Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of appliances and applications used to manage and monitor the Baylor voice network
    • Works from a ticketing system queue toward the resolution of multiple voice, and data networking-related issues each day
    • Works closely in coordinating network services and support for research and educational departmental data centers
    • Provides cross-training to other Communications Technology team members (Network, Telecom), and mentors junior members of Network Engineering & Security
    • May support junior technical staff in the verification of the proper function of test equipment (voice, copper and fiber-optic cabling, etc.) to ensure proper and reliable function
    • Manages small-to-medium voice projects while assisting with small to large sized data and security related projects.
    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • 2-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical related field is required
    • Ability to work with little or no supervision
    • Must have good communication and customer interface skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
    • Problem solving, decision making skills and negotiation skills required
    • Some experience is required on Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, & Excel

    Desired/Preferred Qualifications

    • Two or more years’ experience in the installation and maintenance of ScienceLogic, LabTech, AD, General Networking, ticketing system (ConnectWise)
