Overview

The Senior Accountant must be an independent thinker who is comfortable working in a high-volume, fast paced environment. The Senior Accountant must also be process driven and customer service oriented and able to communicate with various levels of personnel.

Responsibilities
    Manages workflow to ensure all transactions are properly recorded into the general ledger on a timely basis and in the correct period, including the review of journal entries prepared by others
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing complex account information
  • Maintains complex general ledger accruals and balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned
  • Develops ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
  • Performs financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis including variance analysis and making recommendations based on analysis
  • Assists Staff Accountants as needed
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 4 plus years’ experience in accounting or related field
  • In-depth understanding of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within accounting, including US GAAP
  • Strong Computer Skills including MS Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as in team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA preferred
  • Great Plains experience is a plus

Work Environment

Ability to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
