We offer a unique perspective into the world of food manufacturing with a maximum 12-week paid internship in our Quality & Food Safety department in Northbrook, IL. As a key player on the team, the Quality & Food Safety Intern will be exposed to several core competencies within the Quality & Food Safety team job function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support maintenance of supplier compliance database and the launch of Barilla's own internal platform.
  • Assess alignment of Supply Quality Requirement and Quality Annex for Barilla's raw/packaging materials suppliers, co-manufacturers, warehouses, and re-packers.
  • Support continued compliance to FDA's FSMA Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP).
  • Support implementation and rollout of Barilla HQ's LIMS (Lab Information Management System) to be used by Corporate RDQ and Plant QA's.
  • Develop Food Safety Management System programs for Corporate Pilot Plant.
  • Collaborate with plant & corporate QFS team members to share QFS culture journey to the organization
  • Standardize customer requests for information as routinely requested by Sales.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Completed Junior year of college with a concentration in {Food Science or related degree}
  • GPA >3.20
  • Effective project management and time management skills
  • Self-driven individual with the ability to work independently
  • Solid presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain attention to detail
  • Strong ability to work in teams and build good relationships high degree of personal integrity and work ethics
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); Advanced Excel skills with formulas and pivot tables a plus
