Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently seeking to hire a Water/Wastewater CADD Design Technician in our Pennsylvania / Ohio offices.

This person will work closely with a project process engineer, a multi-discipline design team, and project manager and will be responsible for supporting the design and production of treatment plants and collection/distribution systems associated with Water/Wastewater and Industrial Clients. The candidate will be required to develop full sets of construction drawings from a BIM model. This individual should have a strong understanding of design concepts including process equipment, piping layouts, flanges valves and fittings, P&IDs, utility relocations, site grading, E&S plans and other aspects related to the design. This person must be proficient in Civil 3D and ability work within BIM model space, should possess strong communication and coordination skills, and should be self motivated and detail oriented, with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound designs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design Engineering or related field or equivalent experience in CADD systems operations and maintenance.
  • 5+ years experience in technical support of CADD applications such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with BIM software, including 3D modeling, clash detection and coordination.
  • With occasional assistance from project engineers and managers, produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided drafting software.
  • Experience in adopting the BIM process in large projects during its lifecycle from design to operation, and able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of industry standards and practices in the areas of CAD, Microstation, and BIM software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in development of process models and drawings.
  • Civil drafting background with underground utility experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and sound judgment in establishing priorities among support requests and project work.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
