Position Summary

SSOE is seeking a talented Chemical Process Engineer for our award-winning Hillsboro office. This Chemical Process Engineer will interface directly with our Clients and provide ongoing project support. They will also be responsible for performing a variety of routine engineering assignments on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller scope, within the semiconductor industry.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems, practices, and methods and may create and refine unique design solutions. In the case of a licensed staff member, acting as a lead project engineer, this includes but is not limited to, the stamping/sealing of one's drawings/documents as well as drawings/documents done as the professional in "responsible charge" as defined by the applicable statute of jurisdiction.
  • May plan and develop engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial problems, offering highly specialized knowledge and skills in a particular branch of engineering.
  • Acts as a mentor, coach, tutor and resource for less experienced staff.
  • May supervise, coordinate, and review the work of a team of engineers and designers working on the same assigned project.
  • Represents the firm in meetings and conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate a project.
  • Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, policy matters, and/or unusual problems and developments.
  • Maintains continuing professional education as detailed in registered states' voluntary or mandatory requirements.
  • Travel required.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree / DIRECT / 8+

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor Degree from ABET accredited school in Engineering, with 10+ years of industry experience.
  • Professional Engineering license in current state required.
  • Knowledge of chemical process systems control philosophy including P&ID development.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit preferred. In-depth knowledge of fluid transfer, heat exchange, friction loss in piping systems, including design and operation. Previous experience with design of experiments and authoring of technical reports. Previous experience running computer-based simulations.
