Role Overview:

The Market & Shopper Intelligence Principal is a high-profile role within the company and our client organization. In this position, you will create impactful, actionable insights for companies known for their innovative products and highly visible marketing campaigns. You will consult with the client through the processes necessary to help ensure their continued success.

In this role, you will lead a high-performance team in developing and using IRI's suite of solutions to identify and address a broad spectrum of key issues including new product launches, line extensions, trade spending, pricing, retail execution, and thought leadership in the Healthcare space.

The Market & Shopper Intelligence Principal serves as a passionate advocate for the client in advancing solutions that will best build the client's long-term business. While meeting and exceeding revenue targets is important, success is equally measured by the ability to create indispensable, long-term, solution-focused consultative partnerships and develop excellence and innovative thinking in the team.

Responsibilities:

As a Market & Shopper Intelligence Principal, you will represent the COE and lead the COE vertical team in partnership with our Client Insights team, and leverage data and strong analytic capabilities to uncover impactful insights, and inform business strategies and actions that drive client performance. You will provide consultative guidance to the client to ensure their continued success. You will also promote, develop, and deliver subject experts analytics-based syndicated and custom business solutions. While foundational systems are established, you will advise as to when and how to customize solutions to fit unique client business issues and will also be charged with recommending long term changes to methodology and approach.

At your disposal will be IRI's unparalleled solutions and data assets and leverage those solutions especially as they apply to business issues within the COE focus area . As a Market & Shopper Intelligence Principal you will be a leader in developing and using IRI's tools and solutions and lead the charge for ownership in expertise and internal certifications to drive excellence.

While activities will vary, the Market & Shopper Intelligence Principal can expect to spend their time on industry thought leadership, business solutions definition, business development, project management, cross-functional team leadership, problem-solving, and innovation. As we gain client adoption of our business solutions, the Principal will work fluidly at all levels up to the practice leadership and spend more time acting as a liaison and customer advocate with the IRI Product Management, Strategic Analytics, Consumer Insights, Media Solutions, In-store Solutions and Technology teams.

Shopper Marketing Domain Expertise

  • Demonstrates understanding of key trends and conditions and their implications for the business
  • Proven ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate a broad array of Shopper Marketing execution strategies
  • Links execution to desired business outcomes
  • Approaches company with original and progressive thinking on the Shopper Marketing space that has not been considered in the industry in order to improve processes, methods, systems, or services
  • Develops external reputation for Shopper Marketing expertise; drives industry thought leadership.
  • Understands and communicates how Shopper Marketing capabilities support IRI Group brand and strategic vision
  • Recommends & develops events to showcase IRI Group Shopper Marketing capabilities; presents at industry events to showcase IRI Groups capabilities and enhance industry thinking
  • Enhances/develops current research and technology surrounding Shopper Marketing
  • Maintains inflow of competitive intelligence
  • Reviews, selects, and disseminates information on Shopper Marketing space

Consultative Selling

  • Applies knowledge of the business, industry, and domain expertise to identify, create and close business opportunities
  • Manages, maintains, and builds productive business relationships with key client stakeholders (Sales, Marketing Research, Marketing, Brand Management, etc.)
  • Identifies and develops strategies to expand services and penetrate client organization
  • Targets and sells services that address unexpressed and underlying client needs; asks questions so as to identify the root causes of issues versus symptoms
  • Asks questions to test assumptions and challenges the status quo
  • Synthesizes information on a variety of issues, translates the information into a project framework that ultimately provides solutions for clients

Leading Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Remove barriers to internal and external collaboration, balancing the interests of multiple stakeholders; addresses conflicting priorities that come up from different stakeholders/functions

Qualifications

The most qualified candidates will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in creating actionable Client Insights, leveraging a suite of solutions to solve client issues, building strategies to achieve identified revenue targets, using consultative selling skills to create or identify new revenue opportunities, have expertise in building presentations for various audience types from conference attendees to CXO populations, be comfortable presenting prepared material while addressing business questions in real time, and have experience leading a team that encompasses various career levels. 15+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree is required, with Advanced Degree preferred.

Candidates must also possess a high degree of initiative in their work, and a natural collaborative approach. Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn and adapt to new and evolving systems will also be critical in this role
