The Role
BuzzFeed News is looking for a Video Journalist to join our News Curation team in Los Angeles or New York City, which is the team responsible for packaging and promoting our journalism across all platforms, including social media. You will focus on finding and editing short-form (~3-minute) content for Facebook and Instagram that has news value and reflects the interests of the BuzzFeed News audience on those platforms. You will have an eye for captivating footage that appeals to a wide audience and experience structuring videos to keep our audience engaged while telling a story. They should also be creative, with a passion for news and excellent communication skills.
The Video Journalist will work alongside the News Curation team to learn how to package videos for social media - from creating effective headlines and captions to understanding how to move video on different platforms. You should be self-motivated, curious, with some experience in news video or social media.
This is a one-year, fixed-term position with the option of potentially renegotiating the contract at the end.
