Job Description

TITLE: INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER II

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Infrastructure Engineers ensure that the IT infrastructure is sufficiently robust, scalable, and efficient to deliver the integrated services underlying the physical environment that supports the processes, physical resources and operators required for developing, integrating, operating, and sustaining IT applications and support services.

They build, test, implement, configure, tune and support the IT infrastructure in the Cloud and on premise, to include the server platforms, storage systems, middleware infrastructure, network, and client technologies.

They pursue the physical design, implementation and support of major automation solutions in a multiplatform environment, make recommendations for improvements to the usability of automated tools, and identify opportunities for increased adoption of orchestration technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build, configure and maintain hybrid IT systems: installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems. Assist with integrating services across cloud and data center. Assists in the prioritization of requirements and matching of resources with requirements.
  • Automation: Leverages established frameworks for automation and CI/CD, and contributes improvements
  • Scripting: Creates and maintains scripts to automate repetitive tasks and support automated workflows
  • Configuration management: Assists in establishing baselines and configuration control. Updates CMDB.
  • Infrastructure standards and practices: Assists in writing and researching standards and practices for infrastructure solutions
  • Monitoring: Assists in monitoring infrastructure to troubleshoot issues and ensure SLAs are being met.
  • Documentation: Assists in documenting new or modified infrastructure solutions

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, management or related field.
  • Experience in multiple IT disciplines. 1+ years in IT with 1-4 years in related field.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong problem analysis and debugging/resolution skills.
  • Strong desire to learn and expand skill set while helping team meet business requirements.
  • Self-motivated and self-driven - Moderate autonomy, usually supervised depending on project being worked on.
  • Ability to multi-task, plan and manage time appropriately.

Automation and Development

  • Prior experience with development and analysis during production support and/or new implementations required.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming (e.g. Python, Ansible, Java, ABAP, etc.) or scripting (e.g. Shell, etc.) languages is required.
  • Good grasp of automation tools and DevOps concepts.
  • Exposure to and understanding of Database structures and concepts.
  • Agile and Scrum knowledge preferred.
  • Cloud experience and/or certification is a plus.

Information Life Cycle Management

  • The desire to learn SAP Data Archiving. Any SAP Data Archiving and/or SAP Archiving project experience is a plus.
  • Any experience supporting and/or implementing an ERP Application a plus.
  • Partner with SAP Application, Records Management and Legal teams related to SAP Archiving.
  • Linux OS (SUSE and/or RHEL) experience helpful.
  • Experience with any Content Management systems for SAP is desired with OpenText (IXOS) Archive Server preferred.

SAP Basis

  • The desire to learn SAP Basis.1-2 years of SAP Basis experience is preferred.
  • Linux OS (SUSE and/or RHEL) experience desired.
  • Any experience supporting and/or implementing an ERP Application a plus.
  • Any experience with Java based systems.
  • Experience with upgrades, installations, and patching (support packs and kernel patches) desired.
  • Experience with monitoring and tuning to ensure optimal performance a plus.
  • Escalated support for SAP Applications related to Basis role after onboarding period of 6 months to 1 year.
