Oncology is a core area of intensive focus at GSK, and while much progress has been made in the past few years, more can be done to REDEFINE EXPECTATIONS in cancer care.

We are seeking an Oncology/Hematology Associate Director, Strategic Engagement to develop and execute brand strategies and tactics.

This position is part of the US marketing team and will be focused on creating and executing field-based tactics that support brand strategy and the educational goals of the organization. As a field-based employee, this individual will be responsible for defined activity within assigned regions, supporting programs throughout the country, and interfacing regularly with colleagues across multiple departments. The position requires a flexible work schedule (nights and weekends) and travel up to 60-80% of the time.

As an Associate Director of Strategic Engagement, you will engage and work closely with U.S Oncology External Experts (EEs) in support of GSK's oncology portfolio. You will play a pivotal role by being responsible for developing interactions that result in enhanced customer relationships and positions GSK as a leader in oncology. Across solid tumors and product indications, the role will work cross-functionally to enhance coordination and strategic value of interactions in all customer segments. The role will collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Care Team Leads, and other internal stakeholders to ensure an aligned engagement strategy that is cross-functional and actionable. This role is designed to enhance the level and depth of relationships with EEs and does not replace or circumvent important interactions by other functions within GSK.

Areas of Focus:

  • Identification and development of deep relationships with EEs in the US gynecologic oncology community
  • Develop insights about customers and institutions that enhance GSK's understanding of customers' capabilities and opportunities to work with GSK in a mutually beneficial fashion
  • Use strategic insights, based on GSK legitimate business needs and market intelligence, to inform collaboration opportunities with key institutions and stakeholders
  • Identify and plan corporate site visits with senior leadership from across the company
  • Be the conduit at congresses to connect EEs and GSK executive team with the purpose of discussing common corporate interests, available capabilities, resources, and potential collaborations
  • Be a key point of contact for existing speakers and support identifying and training new speakers to serve pre-defined business needs
  • Champion corporate goals, solidifying corporate image by leveraging opportunities to showcase GSK's commitment to patients across solid tumors

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading cross-functional planning and execution of advisory boards
  • Working closely with HQ marketing to co-manage promotional speaker's bureau
  • Capturing feedback derived from brand needs from key external experts located within assigned regions
  • Serving on cross-functional teams to provide internal and external customer perspective
  • Collaborating on the development and pull-through of promotional and non-promotional content
  • Managing vendors as needed (Medical education agency, meetings management, etc.)
  • Leading regional and local congress activity as well as national symposia
  • Coordinating and leading External Expert meetings with leadership and brand team
  • Development and execution of regional marketing strategies
  • Experience with working cross-functionally to engage effectively with external experts
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, prior people management experience a plus
  • Strong project management experience
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong clinical acumen, demonstrated product expertise, and deep knowledge of oncology market landscape
  • Experience working collaborate with legal, regulatory, compliance, and medical review processes
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency
  • Possess a sense of urgency and an ability to make decisions as well as take action
  • Strong orientation to ethics and compliance
  • Skilled in Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, VEEVA

  • Bachelor's degree,
  • Minimum of 8 years of commercial experience in the pharma/biotech industry
  • Minimum 5 years oncology experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel ~ 60% - 80%; could be less based on geography
  • Ability to travel to meetings/trainings/programs as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to assemble and lead cross-functional teams toward a shared vision of success
  • Oncology product marketing experience, field sales, sales management, sales training experience
  • Masters Degree
  • Ability to deliver objectives under tight timelines
  • Commercial and/or medical affairs experience
