Job Description

The Newark Site has an exciting opportunity to lead maintenance department of approximately 20 people. The Newark Site is aligned to the pharma solutions business. The site is a leading manufacturer of microcrystalline cellulose and other pharmaceutical business excipient grade materials. Our site is also a key supplier to the Food & Beverage markets within the Nourish division of IFF.

The Maintenance Leader provides strategic maintenance direction for the site organization. This role integrates safety and business expectations to ensure maintenance organization effectiveness and efficiency. The Maintenance Leader will be a key member of the Newark Site leadership team and supports the establishes a strong safety and productive culture.


Key responsibilities:
* Ensures the maintenance department adheres to IFF Core Principles and Food Safety Guidelines
* Manages maintenance functions for a small (>100 employees) size food and excipient manufacturing facility
* Ensures that maintenance department objectives are aligned with site and business direction
* Improve Maintenance efficiencies and develop and implement best practices
* Consult Production organization to "Champion" and drive improvement in the maintenance function (WMP, Reliability, MIQA, CMMS, Budgeting, Succession Planning and Maintenance Training requirements, Turn Around, MRO processes).
* Ensures effective daily management of the maintenance department, which includes union mechanics and resident contractors
* Provide technical expertise to analyze and resolve recurring issues that impact plant uptime
* Maintains a strategic plan to protect assets and ensure the facility condition remains in compliance with corporate standards
* Effectively manage department budget and optimize maintenance spend
* Maintain stores and spare equipment systems to support plant needs
* Actively participates on the Site Leadership team to set direction and optimize overall site productivity
* Support plant-wide Process Safety Management (PSM) and Personnel and Food safety efforts
* Ensure MRO processes and material storage areas comply with IFF Standards.

Job Requirements

* Degree in Engineering or Science
* Minimum Seven (7) years' experience in all aspects of plant maintenance and / or operations
* Experience with driving and influencing sustainable change in a manufacturing environment
* Leadership capabilities and the ability to set expectations and hold people accountable
* Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated ability to work at strategic and tactical levels, set and communicate priorities, and understand and support the business drivers
* Effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to develop and present information to all levels in the organization, and address external organizations
* PSM Element Leadership Experience recommended
* SAP skills are preferred
