Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Building/Life Safety and Fire Protection Code Consultant for our New York office client office. We also have potential positions in Jersey City, NJ. JENSEN HUGHES is a leading fire protection consulting firm providing a range of professional services including building/fire code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, and performance-based fire engineering design on local, national, and international projects.

We are looking for highly motivated, experienced individuals to work in all aspects of fire protection engineering, including building code consulting, fire protection systems, and fire protection inspections and testing. Responsibilities

The successful applicant will have a well-rounded background in fire protection engineering and code consulting. The role will involve many aspects of fire protection engineering with a focus on inspection and testing of life safety systems. The position will coordinate and conduct fire protection inspections, witness testing of life safety systems, review applicable codes and standards, prepare inspection and testing reports and coordinate with engineering design teams and installation contractors.

Responsibilities:

    Management and implementation of a wide variety of engineering and consulting projects.
  • Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Conduct inspections of life safety systems.
  • Coordinate and witness testing of fire protection systems.
  • Preparation of project-related technical reports.
  • Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others.
  • Local travel requirements to project sites with company/client vehicle.
Qualifications
  • 3 years experience inspecting various types of fire protection systems and equipment including but not limited to fire pumps, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire/smoke dampers, and special suppression systems
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, or certification through ICC or NICET pertaining to fire protection system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in conducting field reviews/inspections.
  • Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Fire alarm and sprinkler system design knowledge/experience is preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or other professional designation preferred but not required.
