Role and responsibilities
  • Process owner of optical assembly processes. Optimize process methods, implement/maintain process controls, and provide troubleshooting and corrections to process issues.
  • Work directly with Optical Assembly technicians and provide hands-on support for daily Production work.
  • Attend daily Production meetings and take immediate action to resolve issues.
  • Write procedures, and train, certify, and routinely coach technicians.
  • Perform administrative transaction is SAP ERP system.
  • Develop Manufacturing procedures, create technical work instructions, and provide inputs to process routings.
  • Assist with the design, assembly, testing, qualification and training on of new Production equipment.
  • Perform hands-on tests of new optical assembly components for proof-of-concept.
  • Write Engineering Test Plans and Engineering Test Reports.
  • Monitor SPC data; create out of control action plan (OCAP), take corrective action.
  • Report on KPI for the products you support.
  • Review Failure Analysis Reports and help determine the root-cause.
  • Review and interpret TPD, provide input on design for manufacturability.
  • Follow Product Generation Process (PGP) and ensure 6P=P Production readiness for your processes.
  • Proficient in the use of interferometers, autocollimators, CMM, microscopes.
  • Able to interpret optical and mechanical drawings.
  • Embrace the Lean Manufacturing philosophy and look for opportunities for continuous improvement in all areas of the production processes.

Education and experience
  • BS/MS in Optical, Electrical, Physics Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5-7 years' experience in an manufacturing environment as an Production Engineer.
  • Experience in a clean room production environment with high tech products and complex processes is desirable.
  • Working knowledge with SAP is a plus.
  • Experience in Microsoft programs, Excel, Word, Power Point.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Can work under deadlines.
  • The environment generally is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.
  • Must be willing to work a compressed work week schedule - twelve-hour long shift and rotating from three to four days a week.
  • This must include references to day and night shifts for accommodation purposes.
