Primary Responsibilities

HDR has an excellent opportunity to join our strong and growing water resources market sector. The position will be based in one of our NY/NJ area offices.

We are seeking qualified PE's with strong project management, numerical modeling experience and the ability to execute projects and help expand our coastal services practice in NY/NJ area and the East coast of the U.S. Candidates should have project management background especially with managing federal projects. Also, technical background in coastal and maritime engineering projects is required. Responsibilities will include managing federal projects, serving as coastal engineering technical lead, mentoring junior staff, development and implementation of business strategies for growth of our coastal services practice locally and along the East Coast; leading and supporting pursuit teams nationwide, and preparing proposals including project scope and fee estimates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage all aspects of multi-discipline federal projects
  • Establish client relations and is involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Track the financial aspects of the projects and coordinates and adjusts the work effort with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Promoting and helping to expand the coastal services and staff in NY/NJ area water resources market sector and potentially on the East Coast.
  • Coordination, monitoring, and improvement of technical competencies of section staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers, all within direction and goals of business class plans for the East Coast.
  • Participate in business class practice and professional discipline groups, project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices and implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviews.
  • Candidate must be able to travel within NY/NJ and nationally as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil, Coastal, Ocean Engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • New York and/or New Jersey Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain in 6-month period.
  • 5+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience, with 2 years working in the federal market (working experience with US Army Corps of Engineers, is desired).
  • 4+ years of relevant coastal engineering experience (i.e. consulting, numerical modeling of coastal processes, research, etc.).
  • Experience preparing technical reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with wave growth and transformation, coastal and estuarine hydrodynamics.
  • Ability to work both independently and in group environments.

Typical starting pay range for this position is $108,000.00 - $186,625.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
