The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone Health is seeking a Chief of Service to oversee the department of OBGYN at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. This position will report to the Chair of OBGYN and the Chief Medical Officer, NYU Langone Hospital- Brooklyn.
Key Responsibilities include:
Provide all administrative and supervisory services required of a Chief of Service including, but not limited to, oversight of clinical services, program development, personnel, scheduling, and performance improvement;
Partner with the Chair, VP for Women and Children’s Services and key stakeholders within the Faculty Group Practice on recruitment and onboarding of attendings within the Department of OBGYN;
Lead and encourage innovative strategies to enhance quality, safety, and patient experience uses data and a quality improvement structure to implement and evaluate benefits;
Provide assistance and support to the Chair regarding Obstetrics and Gynecology service issues within NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn;
Report to the Chair, upon reasonable request, with respect to the performance of the physicians within the Obstetrics and Gynecology services;
Oversee the following leadership team at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn: Chief of Gynecology, Associate Chief, Medical Director of the Labor and Delivery, Medical Director of Postpartum, Director of the Patient Safety Officer Program, and Director of Simulation;
Represent the Obstetrics and Gynecology services in a medical advisory capacity;
Prepare for, present at, and attend medical board, quality initiative, department leadership, labor/post-partum improvement, service chief, and department quality assurance meetings as needed;
Formulate policies and procedures such as standing orders, techniques, and clinical pathways;
Resolve safety and service variances associated with the Obstetrics and Gynecology services;
Manage safety officer program and scheduling of assignments;
Work collaboratively with other departments to enhance the care of the OB/GYN patients at NYU Langone- Brooklyn;
Provide oversight to the advanced practice providers;
Cooperate with respect to the selection of supplies, equipment, and facility upgrades within the Obstetrics and Gynecology services;
Participate in the development of and planning for additional services and locations;
Assure participation with ongoing performance improvement activities and compliance by all physicians and staff;
Monitor key performance indicator performance of the Obstetric service;
Salary: $500,000 to $600,000. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual salary may not fall within the listed salary range; consideration will be made for experience, training, hospital/community need, and other factors
Candidates should be Board certified with credentials commensurate with faculty appointment at the assistant professor or associate professor level. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to academic medicine and patient care as well as fellow, resident and medical student education. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who is seeking a position that combines both academic and clinical care. Requirements include successful completion of a U.S. accredited OB/GYN residency and a NY State Medical license.
