Position Description

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) in Brookyln, NY has several immediate openings for high school interns. Interns will join a team that is responsible for the preparation of materials for teacher workshops, student camps and school-year student field trips. This is a great opportunity to learn core lab skills, including but not limited to: preparation of media and solutions, pipetting, agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR, bacterial culture and sterile technique.  

Position Responsibilities

Classroom upkeep, cleaning and equipment setup;
Preparation and testing of reagents and cultures for use in experiments;
Assistance for educational staff during classroom instruction;
Supervision of summer campers during lunch breaks;
Participation in independent or team projects, mentored by DNALC staff members, which focus on translating current research into new experiments for the educational programs.  

Position Requirements

EDUCATION: Current high school student, must be at least 16 years old.

EXPERIENCE: An interest in science
