In this role - you will report to the Sr. DC Director and this position is based out of our Roanoke, TX Distribution Center.


Position Details:

You will oversee both the inbound (receiving and put away) and outbound (pick and pack) operations for a high volume, order fulfillment, multi-shift distribution center. You will provide direct leadership to up to 4 exempt Manager level direct reports and indirect oversight of a large non-exempt employee population. You will oversee operations to ensure accurate product receipt, order fulfillment, and the optimization of resources and processes while operating within budget. Develop processes to ensure compliance and employee programs to promote an environment where employees are involved, empowered, and committed to the success of Grainger. Reporting to the Senior Director, Regional Distribution.


You Will:

  • Ensure goals related to operational performance, quality and positive employee relations are communicated and achieved through standardization, sharing of best practices, and continuous improvement
  • Implement staffing strategies so we can fulfill shipping commitments to customers regardless of variations of workflow or business levels
  • Create a dynamic workplace that effects positive employee relationships by developing employee engagement and recognition programs and ensuring all employees are treated fairly, with respect, and have the tools necessary to perform their jobs
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and development to salaried managers this includes interviewing and training, assign and direct work, performance evaluations, and recognition and disciplinary action
  • Develop procedures to improve inventory integrity and manage inventory through put of inventory over $30 million and serving 100,000+ customers
  • Ensure the Company's physical assets (building, equipment, inventory) are controlled and protected. Use process improvements to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Implement policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations with emphasis on hazardous materials and power industrial equipment to reduce work-related injury/illnesses, property damage and workers compensation cost


You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, and Operations or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years progressively responsible management experience in a high volume, multi-shift operation dealing with large employee populations
