Media Relations Manager, Markets & Research- VP

You will be a key memberof the Global Markets' Corporate Communications team. The team member willprimarily support Markets' US franchise, including Equities, FICC (acrossMacro, Credit, Securitized Products, and Prime Services) and Research. Thisindividual will play a key role in managing Markets and Research mediarelations efforts in the US, including working with the business to ensure thatour strategy is reflected in top-tier financial news publications. In addition,this person will develop proactive strategies to engage with the press, as wellas develop reactive strategies for mitigating negative stories and safeguardingBarclays' brand and reputation. We are looking for someone who is high-energy,creative, and a good team player, and someone who has a strong willingness tolearn, develop, and grow.

What will you be doing?

  • Chiefly responsible for the planning and execution of media relations for Markets and Research in the US
  • Supporting Markets and Research executives in preparing and executing media activity.
  • Accountable to the global team, reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, Markets and Research
  • Owns the annual strategic plan developed in partnership with the business and approved by the Corporate Communications leadership team.

What we're looking for:
  • B.S. or B.A. in Communications, Marketing Communications, Journalism, English or a closely-related field.
  • 5 years of experience in Corporate Communications or a closely-related field
  • 5 years media relations in financial services

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Broad experience of working with the media. Financial media experience especially useful.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of specialist media relations practices.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as an organized communicator who sets goals, multitasks, problem solves, tracks projects, meets deadlines, collaborates and contributes to overall Barclays Communications objectives.
  • Excellence in news judgments and management practices.
  • Experience representing a major organization as spokesperson.
  • Broad experience in building cohesive, multifaceted strategic communications plans.
  • Crisis and Mergers & Acquisitions experience.
