Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):   

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biostatistics, Statistics, Science, or related field. One (1) year of full-time experience performing analytical and data-related work in a clinical or research environment. Experience with Access and Excel. Prior experience in Structured Query Language (SQL). Working with complex data sets. Experience with SPSS, SAS, Stata, or R. Experience with electronic data-collection platforms (i.e. Qualtrics, RedCap, etc.).


Preferred Qualifications:  

Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biostatistics, Statistics, Science, or related field. Experience working on research papers and analysis. Additional experience performing analytical and data-related work in a clinical or research in a health care related industry.


Brief Description of Duties:  

The Statistician provides in-depth analysis of project data using appropriate statistical methods to meet internal and external client needs. Maintains project databases, works with research and WTC program staff to ensure data collection requirements are met, and assists with development of new databases. Performs statistical analysis of existing and new datasets, including descriptive statistics, regression models and other appropriate statistical methods. Report results in a variety of settings including meetings, presentations, and written reports. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are essential. The candidate must be detail oriented, and have strong analytical and organizational skills. 


  • Hands-on statistical analysis of existing and new datasets, including descriptive statistics, regression models, and other appropriate statistical methods.

  • Maintaining proficiency with respect to statistical programming and methodology and in applying new and varied methods.

  • Selecting statistical methods for data analysis, and conducting analysis.

  • Conduct quality checks of data.

  • Monitor historical and current data trends.

  • Develop appropriate and accurate statistical models for interpretation of existing and new datasets.

  • Prepare and update analyses based on the type of datasets being analyzed.

  • Report results of statistical analyses, including information in form of graphs, charts and tables.

  • Assist in writing abstract, articles, publications and reports of findings from analyses, as well as study design and methodology and sections for publications.

  • Display and present data in a meaningful and easy to understand manner.

  • Develop automated, customized reports in Access databases.

  • Maintain and make modifications to existing databases.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Special Notes: 

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. **The incumbent must be willing to work and travel between the Mineola and Commack clinic locations. Occasional Evenings and Saturdays will be required.
