Job Summary

TYLin is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our Rail + Transit team. This opportunity is open to professionals who may be based out of the NYC or Chicago area. Reporting to the Manager, this position will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and modifying drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs; and monitor work related to the structural elements of transit facilities and rail stations. The Project Engineer will work collaboratively with a team of Engineers and Specialists across rail disciplines (Engineering, Electrification Systems and Project Controls), Project Managers, Engineers, Analysts, and Coordinators.As a member of the Rail + Transit team, you will be given opportunities to develop work plans and professional skills to become a strong leader in the consulting environment.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Lead in the execution and delivery of existing and new projects in a design bid build & design build environment for stations, rail and/or bus maintenance facilities to advance design packages by providing value added design solutions in conformance with operator requirements and client/end user/project output specifications
  • Serve as a technical expert in the civil/structural design of transit facilities, including stations, retaining walls and other structures
  • Produce engineering drawings and details from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures
  • Conduct site inspections of existing structures as well as those under construction as required by the project
  • Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards
  • Assist in preparing effective proposals seeking targeted project opportunities
  • Other assignments as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural engineering
  • 7+ years of civil/structural engineering experience with a focus on transit and transportation projects
  • A PE License is required
  • Strong computer skills including experience in AutoCAD, MS Office and other technical software packages
  • Periodic travel required
