Macmillan Learning is looking for a motivated Senior Financial Analyst looking to grow in their career. This position is based in our downtown NYC office reporting to our Executive Director of Finance. This person will be responsible for reporting and analysis of financial and KPI business data in order to understand external and internal factors affecting the company's profitability. This individual will partner with various functional teams including Editorial, International Sales & Operations, Content Management, and Operations among others to understand reporting needs and to create insightful analysis that will support and strengthen decision making.

This position is located in our New York City Office. The role is a hybrid role with 2 days a week in the office

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage components of the sales and expense budgets and forecasts, working with program managers and department managers to set reasonable and accurate forecasts; this includes loading and ensuring data accuracy in SAP.
  • Produce reporting and analysis including (1)preparing components of the monthly P&L reporting package with analytical commentary, and (2)performing profitability analysis by discipline, product, franchise, author, and title.
  • Collaborate with finance, editorial, content production, operations and other cross-functional stakeholders to develop and maintain reports and analysis to stakeholders.
  • Become knowledgeable in the company's business systems and financial and operational data structure, in order to create and modify standard reports and prepare ad-hoc analysis accessing the company data warehouse.
  • Understand the information requirements of various stakeholders, obtain access and data from appropriate sources (SAP, Cognos, EDR, etc.) and create meaningful insightful reports and analysis.
  • Manage the financials of our International business including processing or monitoring monthly transactions, along with forecasting, analyzing, and reporting.
  • Draw conclusions from financial data and provide useful analytical information and commentary on the current state of our business.
  • Communicate, report and present to senior management and business functions, and suggest areas of focus and improvement to increase profitability.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (finance or accounting, or data analytics preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in related roles
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivots, formulas, charts), working knowledge of SQL, Google suite of applications (Sheets & Slides)
  • Proven analytical skills, and experience working with data is required
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for dealing with business partners and internal stakeholders

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with database tools, SAP, Cognos, Power BI, Google Analytics or similar
  • Experience in Publishing or Education Technology industries

The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $90,000/year
