Job Description

The Division of Geriatrics & Palliative Care in the Department of Medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Clinician Scientist for an Endowed Professorship with an administrative appointment as Associate Director, Research at the level of Associate or Full Professor.

This Investigator will lead and further develop an extramurally-funded program in Aging Research and in particular, will:

  • Develop a novel area of inquiry
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships throughout the sophisticated network of clinical, research, and community institutions within the NYU Langone Health System
  • Mentor junior research faculty and fellows in scholarly activity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a nationally-recognized division (ranked #3 in Geriatrics in US News & World Report) and contribute to continued growth of the Division's Freedman Research Center on Aging, Technology, and Cognitive Health (CATCH), which currently boasts over a $12,000,000 research portfolio https://med.nyu.edu/departments-institutes/medicine/divisions/geriatric-medicine-palliative-care/.

Key sites of academic synergy occur with the Departments of Population Health, Emergency Medicine, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Delivery Science, and the Division of Precision Medicine.

The Division's clinical programs intensively collaborate across the institution and with compassionate, evidence-based care. Recognized nationally for their quality care and outcomes, the NYU Langone Health Hospitals serve a diverse ethnic and economic population of older adults and veterans throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island with access to patients who may most benefit from the advances in science developed at NYU Langone Health.

Qualified candidates must have an MD and/or PhD, and for physician candidates, board certification in Geriatrics and/or Palliative Care is required. Candidates should demonstrate:

  • A strong track record of extramural funded independent research
  • a committment to sustained scholarly productivity, and
  • the capacity for ambitious, innovative thinking in the field of aging

Interest in building a research program in Aging Health Equity in collaboration with our Institute for Excellence in Health Equity will be given additional consideration.

Successful candidates will receive a competitive start-up package, substantial salary support commensurate with experience and rank, and will have access to a comprehensive benefits package.

In compliance with the NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $365,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
