Overview

Employed by PAGNY for NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, Kings County Hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, which serves 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island. The hospital is academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

The Hepatologist will provide in/outpatient care for patients with digestive diseases and specialize in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of diseases and disorders that affect the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree, and pancreas. This includes diseases such as hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, liver cancer, and drug overdoses. The Hepatologist will work closely with other medical specialists to provide patients with high-quality medical care.

    Diagnosing and treating diseases of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree, and pancreas.
  • Working closely with other medical specialists to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Performing liver biopsies and endoscopic procedures.
  • Interpreting laboratory results and imaging studies.
  • Providing education to patients and their families about liver disease and its management.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of advancements in hepatology.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Supervise and mentor gastroenterology fellows and medicine residents assigned to the gastroenterology service.
  • Provide weekend and evening call coverage for gastroenterology at New York City Health & Hospitals/Kings County Hospital
Qualifications
  • Current licensed NY State registration (or the ability to obtain one)
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology'
  • Fellowship in Hepatology
  • Graduate from approved Medical School
  • Valid DEA registration

Annual Based Salary: $334,750
