The Role:

  • As a full-stack developer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining innovative web applications and software solutions. It is a unique opportunity to rapidly build with an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Collaborate closely with operation and strategy leads, UI/UX designers, developers, and researchers.

  • Be able to effectively prototype in rapid development cycles and communicate development efforts and key findings to senior leadership.

The Skills:

  • Take initiative, work independently, strategize, and execute

  • Track record of building out full-stack applications

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, and lead development efforts

  • Fluent with newest technologies and modern tech stacks

  • Desire to work autonomously. Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones

  • Implement responsive and user-centric interfaces, ensuring an optimal user experience.

  • Create and maintain server-side and client-side code.

  • Build efficient backend frameworks, serving content through custom built REST or GraphQL API's

  • Experience integrating with 3rd party API's, and the ability to effectively communicate to seamlessly integrate into our internal stack

  • Experience with NodeJS, Express, NextJS, and ReactJS frameworks. Further experience is preferred that aligns with our stack of pythonic backend frameworks (Starlette, FastAPI, Flask, Django). Mastery of HTML/CSS/JS, and versioning tools (ie. Git).

  • Experience with server-less infrastructures such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

  • Deep database experience, whether in an agile setting using systems such as Supabase and Firestore, or other systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.

Stretch Skills:

  • AI Domain Expertise : We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in ML/AI. Many of the products we build cover the entire surface of being full stack applications with a heavy underlying emphasis on Machine Learning.

  • Experience in developing AI-driven solutions and working with machine learning models, as well as familiarity with AI platforms, tools, and frameworks

  • Strong fundamental understanding of machine learning models, feed-forward neural networks, and transformer models

  • Deep knowledge of statistical analysis and model explainability

  • Experience in vector databases like Pinecone for tasks such as Document Retrieval or Semantic Search, and is familiar with model hosting solutions.

  • Former Founders : Founder experience ideal with an emphasis on bringing an entrepreneurial approach along with the ability and desire to build 0-1.

  • Web3 : Exposure to web3 and blockchain technology, having developed decentralized applications from front-end to balancing off and on-chain infrastructure on the back-end.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$164,850.00

Pay Range - End:

$306,150.00

N ort hwester n Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
