Douglass Residential College, a part of Rutgers University - New Brunswick, is an innovative undergraduate higher education institution specifically for women.

The opportunity to teach with Douglass Residential College is an opportunity to teach within the Department of Women's and Gender Studies where the course is housed.

The course is foundation for the Barbara Voorhees Mentors who serve as peer mentors in the College's required seminar.

Teaching with Douglass is a collaborative and meaningful experience where instructors interact with each other and with the peer mentor assigned to their courses.

Requirements include the following.

oTeach one 3.0 undergraduate courses, Leadership Mentoring Practicum.
oMeet all course times/dates.
oAttend 2 required workshops, 4 required plenaries, and 1 breakfast.
oPlan and prepare lessons.
oGrade assignments within 48 hours and return the grades with comments and rubrics to students via Canvas or related platform.
oMeet with students enrolled in the course as needed.
oAdhere to the common syllabus. Post the syllabus on Canvas before your first class meeting.
oAdhere to course, department, college, and university procedures.
oMaintain up to date grades and records on Sakai for student access.
oSubmit midterm warning grades by the published deadline.
oSubmit final grades to the Assistant Dean and/or Douglass Course Director via email and to the University via REGIS 48 hours after your class ends.
oCollaborate with Douglass Residential College and the Department of Women's and Gender Studies as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

*Master's degree and expertise in Women's and Gender Studies or closely related field
*commitment to or experience in Women's and Gender Studies and the status of women
*2-3 years of university level teaching experience including syllabus development and community building within and beyond the classroom setting

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

*This position requires at least a master's degree and expertise in Women's and Gender Studies or closely related field in order to each materials in this foundational course for Douglass Residential College. The course is housed in the Department of Women's and Gender Studies. This course is required of all Douglass students, and it is usually taken within the students' first year.
*Experience teaching in a women's college preferred. Experience working with students in a community building environment with student programming preferred. PH.D. preferred.

Equipment Utilized

*Knowledge of online learning platforms such as Campus Labs, Sakai, Canvas, and/or Blackboard preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

*Move small boxes.
