This New Jersey based position is one that offers a collaborative work environment, with a chance to work for both new and established consumer brands. The position is located in our Fabric & Home Care Innovation Center in Holmdel, in the legendary Bell Works building.

As a Scent Design Leader, you will be responsible for developing creative strategies for global and regional projects and collaborate with expert perfumers, scent designers and other cross functional teams. In this role, you will further develop business knowledge, leverage consumer information, and grow technical expertise, increasing IFF's ability to win in the marketplace. You will utilize internal processes/programs/tools to support the overall Fabric & Home Care business strategy.

You will spend your time...

  • Utilizing your knowledge about current and historical market movements for Fabric and Home Care categories, being an expert on new launches, brand signatures, olfactive insights, identifying icons vs. trends, etc to guide perfumers and teams to develop winning scents.
  • Modeling new scent experiences utilizing IFF tools and scent technologies, partnering with cross functional teams.
  • Fostering usage of Holistic Scent Design (HSD), Scent Portfolio and Consumer Centricity principles, setting clear creative strategies for projects and strategic initiatives as well as encouraging and supporting other SDMs to do the same
  • Articulating and influencing the IFF ingredient strategy for the category initiatives and customer projects.
  • Developing team expertise across IFF capabilities.
  • Partnering with Consumer Insights/Consumer Science in the development of the testing strategy to ensure the relevance in specific projects and categories.
  • Analyzing and giving feedback on potential fragrance themes; providing input to Perfumers and the team. Can coach others in developing an understanding of consumer olfactive preferences (habits & attitudes) in key strategic countries and key customer brands.
  • Sharing your category knowledge with the Scent Design and other cross functional teams regionally and globally.
  • Partnering with the Scent Design Group Director, Creative Center Manager and Category Director to manage pipeline and resources allocation.
  • Demonstrating a high level of positive energy, excitement and embodying IFF's core values.
  • Inspiring and motivating the team to keep collaborating, growing and learning and also strengthening Cultural Sensitivity within the group.
  • Delivering effective presentations with strong storytelling and rationale and showing high ability to connect with teams internally and externally.
Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree / Masters degree, preferably in Science, Marketing, Business or Fragrance.
  • Excellent olfactive capabilities (candidates will be required to complete internal smelling test).
  • 7+ years of industry and scent design experience (fragrance house or consumer goods company).
