Area Wholesale Manager

Summary:

SUMMARY

The Wholesale Area Manager works closely with the Sales, Operations and other internal functions to ensure the alignment of the Wholesale Stores with overall company and regional strategies. This position will ensure the focus of the Wholesale Stores on the achievement of key operational performance metrics while increasing sales, profitability and market share in the assigned market. The Wholesale Area Manager continuously works to improve store merchandising, operating systems, policies, procedures and processes for opportunities for improvement. Fostering an environment of collaboration, sharing and developing in their respective market this position will own the development of Counter Sales Associates to build exceptional pipeline talent for our Wholesale Stores.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead store operations, sales & profitability goals for a group of Wholesale stores in an assigned market.
  • Develop, implement and execute strategies to optimize sales, market share at each respective Wholesale store in the assigned market.
  • Ensure that each Wholesale store implements & maintains the highest level of customer service.
  • Partner with local and regional sales teams to maximize Wholesale store performance, as well as act as a conduit for useful feedback from dealers regarding customer service efforts.
  • Own the talent life cycle for respective stores including but not limited to:
    • Attracting top talent
    • Developing current staff through engagement and continuous professional and personal development
    • Deploy talent through appropriate stretch assignments.
    • Retain talent through active engagement.
  • Conduct regular audits, sales and business reviews using business intelligence (BI) tools to identify opportunities to increase sales and profitability.
  • Actively own performance of Wholesale locations including -- P&L, EBIT, SG&A, Inventory, GM$ on all product categories.
  • Actively ensure thorough understanding of current promotions/programs are communicated effectively through all levels of assigned market.
  • Live "Customer First" approach through -- be intimately involved in the customer life cycle through -- conducting market research, actively participating in customer visits, prospecting new customers, etc.

Skills:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal ability, integrity and a well-developed sense of personal accountability are a must.
  • Excellent time management, organization and planning skills are essential to be successful in this role. All candidates must be self-starters with proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working constantly to stretch, challenge and develop leaders in the Wholesale Stores to grow leadership pipeline.
  • Ability to analyze situations and make appropriate recommendations for correcting operational processes.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written to a wide variety of skill/knowledge levels in addition to possessing excellent presentation skills.
  • Possess strong business acumen through an engaging leadership style.

This position requires frequent market-level travel, occasionally overnight, to include the ability to potentially travel via airline transportation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related degree preferred.
  • 3+ year of demonstrated sales leadership in B2B sales, to include sales and margin growth preferred.
  • Strong computer skills are essential, computer proficiency with Microsoft applications.
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to coach employees and understand customer needs.
  • 3-5 years' experience at a wholesale distributor, HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing industrials.
