Internship Overview:
CRS is a state funded program that helps clients to reach their long-term self-sufficiency
goals. This program is in charge of providing referral services to clients such as medical,
legal, employment, and other critical services that the clients need. The CRS program takes
a key role in assisting clients with their Green Card process if applicable. The CRS program
is also responsible for evaluating all walk-in clients from the community to review
eligibility requirements of CRS services.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain and update client files, participating in intake assessments and family self-
sufficiency planning sessions, providing referral services, and with a possibility for having
own case load and clients if applicable to skills and knowledge
* Assist in the transportation of clients to and from important appointments for services that
they require, including medical and legal appointments
* Other duties as assigned
* Knowledgeable about immigration statuses, current policies and international issues
* Proficient in a second language such as Spanish, Arabic, French, Swahili etc. would be a
plus but not required
* Excellent communication and writing skills
* Organized with attention to detail
* Able to work independently and under pressure
* Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting
* Computer literacy - preferably with PC systems
* Must pass a background check ($51.00 fee)
* Must be at least 18 years old
* Must attend IRC volunteer orientation training
* Must commit to at least 15 hours a week and report to the Tallahassee office once a week.
Please note that this is an unpaid internship that will be based in Tallahassee, Florida.
