Overview

Role Summary: The Land Cover group supports the production of a variety of land use land cover geospatial datasets. A BioAnalytics Analyst supports technical teams by completing tasks with limited oversight. The Analyst should be comfortable working both individually and as part of a team to support data production workflows using tools such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, SQL Server, and cloud environments. Familiarity with vector and raster geospatial data should be strong enough to support finalization of project deliverables.

Work Environment:

    Location is flexible: NV5 Corvallis, OR office or work from home considered
  • Travel < 20% of the time

Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify issues, collaborates with team members to develop solutions, and implements them when feasible
  • Work efficiently on multiple projects, addressing any work-balance issues directly with the appropriate managers
  • Leverages best practices to deliver comprehensive training and mentorship, fostering continuous learning and growth for both technicians and senior technicians
  • Adhere to the completion of all steps in standard workflows
  • The ability to perform repetitive tasks for consecutive periods of time (e.g. days, weeks, months as needed)
  • Assist in procedural development of workflows, methods, and data reporting
  • Rigorous quality control
  • Preparation of deliverables
  • Support archiving of final project data
  • Attend trainings and meetings relating to job requirements
  • Tasks and creates work for technicians as needed
  • Coordinates and collaborates regularly with the technical leaders, project managers and project team members on progress
Qualifications

  • Strong creative aptitude and ability to contribute to the development of the unique workflow methods

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ months of technician or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of analysis experience working within GIS software
  • Ability to read maps, understand coordinate systems, perform raster and vector calculations and make conversions between formats
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Demonstrated experience preferred in the following areas:

  • Edit, transform, and load (ETLs) data from source files to standardized database templates
  • Photo interpretation of aerial imagery
  • Land Use Land Cover geospatial datasets
  • Database design and/or working in a distributed database environment (this could be geodatabases or non-spatial databases)
  • Programming languages such as Python, R, C++, etc.
  • Creating geospatial metadata
