Description

The Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University seeks faculty candidates that are interested in establishing a clinical practice with a focus on creating community outreach and patient centered care programs to help improve patient outcomes. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop innovative clinical, educational, and research programs to suite their unique academic interests.

Our faculty currently leads several nationally recognized, highly regarded outpatient subspecialty centers in Neuromuscular Medicine, Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, and Movement Disorders. Ancillary services include MRI/PET capabilities, EEG, EMG/NCV, and infusion therapy.

Stony Brook is a 624-bed tertiary care facility with a catchment area of 1.5 M residents. It is home to the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level IV Epilepsy Center, 20-bed Neurological Critical Care Unit (NCCU), and Level I trauma center in Suffolk County. The vascular neurology team and interventionalists handle on-site support for inpatient stroke alerts (including the ED).

Responsibilities include:

  • Management of inpatient and outpatient services as assigned.
  • Support efforts towards community engagement and education.
  • Participation in inpatient and consult services with limited weekend and overnight call responsibility.
  • Supervision of neurology resident and medical students.

This represents an exciting opportunity for general neurologists interested in building an outpatient practice at the region's premier academic medical center. Subspecialty areas of interest are welcome. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop innovative clinical, educational, and research programs to suit their unique academic interests.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
MD degree (or foreign equivalent). Eligibility for New York State licensure. Completion of an accredited Neurology residency program. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a high volume Neurology outpatient practice. Management of multiple neurological conditions such as headache, neuropathy, back pain, dizziness.
